RUMSON LIVING MAGAZINE – April 2018 BY ADRIENNE FLEMING      (text only)

Cayley Bazant and Erinn Romanowski became friends in 2005 when they worshipped at the same church in New York City. In 2013, both women moved to Rumson with their young families, where they continued a friendship rooted in their shared faith. In 2017, they contacted Cayley’s longtime family friend Dave Janssen, Metro North Director of Christian & Missionary Alliance. “After our conversation, we felt God was calling us to plant a church,” recalls Cayley of the meeting that eventually led to the founding of North Shore Fellowship, a contemporary Christian Church that offers modern music and hymns, an inspiring children’s ministry and encouraging Bible teachings.

In September of 2017, Dave, who is himself a Rumson native, brought Pastor Raphael Giglio to Cayley’s home. “Raphael had the same heart for bringing the Gospel to the North Shore,” recalls Cayley, who currently leads Woman’s Ministries. “A church is a place for the love of God and Christ’s forgiveness in a broken world.” Pastor Raphael Giglio responded to the call by CMA to lead North Shore Fellowship. At that point the Holman, Ferranti and Hearn families joined as founding families.

North Shore Fellowship began as monthly gatherings at the Bazant home on Holly Tree Lane, before moving to a temporary location in Little Silver. The first Sunday morning open service took place in June of 2018. They recently signed a lease for a new Sun- day morning location, Christ Church located at 300 Ridge Road in Fair Haven. “We believe that worshiping God and studying His Word in a fun, friendly, authentic and engaging environment, makes it easier to apply Biblical truths to our lives,” says Pastor Giglio.

Pastor Giglio is originally from North Brunswick and previously lived in Nashville, Tennessee where he was a Contemporary Christian recording artist. He released several albums, toured all over the world, and worked as a manager for Capitol Records before answering his call to ministry. His wife of 15 years, Aly, is a former Registered Nurse turned recording artist, who now leads the church’s Music Ministry. The couple has 11-year-old twin daughters, Abigail and Phoebe, who are also musically gifted and attend a private Fine Arts school in Somerset County.

In 2006, Pastor Giglio and Aly moved to Ocean Grove, NJ and then Basking Ridge while he worked for 12 years as Associate Pastor and eventually Int. Senior Pastor of Zarephath Christian Church in Somerset County. During his time there, the church grew from under one hundred congregants to over 1500. He focused on Bible teaching, developing the church’s music ministry, and was a featured commentator on the church’s radio station, STAR99.1FM.

“My biggest inspiration is seeing folks who have a difficult time expressing their faith, or have trouble connecting their relationship with God to their day-to-day lives, come to a place where they begin to grow deeper in their faith and relationship with Jesus through the ministry of our church,” says Pastor Giglio. “I am so blessed to speak with people who are now experiencing the fullness of joy, peace and fulfillment in their personal lives, their work and their families simply by seeking God’s will, and applying the truth of God’s Word to their lives.”

North Shore Fellowship offers book-study social groups open to all residents. Programs for children are led by Rumson Road resident Rebecca Ferranti, along with other parents and congregants. They take place at the church in the Meadow Flower School classrooms and include Middle School Youth Group, Christian Service Brigade for boys, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, a Neighborhood Easter Egg hunt and more. With refreshments, children’s crafts, and upbeat expressive music, North Shore Fellowship treats every event like a celebration. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously,” says Pastor Giglio. “We recognize that we are all imperfect people trying to do the best we can to serve the Lord and serve others.”

North Shore Fellowship offers contemporary worship music and hymns, entertaining but thought-provoking sermons, and a friendly, loving environment for both children and adults. “Our hope is to see many Rumson families experience a fulfilling expression of their faith and healthy growth in their relationship with God with us as we continue to grow here as a local church in the Rumson area,” says Pastor Giglio. “We want to be a church that can be counted on to serve the needs of the community in both times of peace and times of crisis as well. Our heart is to show the love of God to everyone, regardless of who they are or what they believe.”
